Fahrenheit 451 Part ONEQuestions

1) Ray Bradbury starts the novel in this way because people like the idea of watching something burn. It is more pleasurable to burn books than to read them because in the world we live in today people don't like reading books so it will be more pleasurable to burn books rather than to read them.

2) The books are compared to birds because the books were like birds that are in a fire flapping their wings to get out of danger.

3) The differences between Montag and Clarisse's lives is that Montag has no one that he can talk to or he does but he talks to them very little. Unlike Montag, Clarisse loves to talk to her family and discuss things with them like in the past.

4) The technology within the novel compares to our current technology in many ways because those things that he is explaining to us, we are using them today. The book has seashells which are called headphones that everyone in our society uses to listen to their music. The wall to wall circuit describe in the book is a remote controller that turns the TV to play and stop the movie playing on it. We use controllers today to turn on and off our tv and decide which channels we want to watch. I think that this technology improves the quality of life for Montag and his wife, Mildred by only a little bit because the technology in the book exist in real life and they don't do much to make our life's better.

5) I think that the narrator introduces us to Montag at this moment in his life because this is that part that house the most drama where he learns about newer things. This is the spot where things get active like him confronting Mildred's overdose and meeting Clarisse.

6) The reason that the author introduces the character Clarisse before Mildred because Clarisse will be like one of the main characters and will have a bigger impact in the story if something happens to her.
7) All of the houses are fireproof in this society because the town they live in has a lot of fire and they have to pay if a fire does start and some people don't have that money to pay for the fire department to com and save their houses from burning even more.

8) Mildred required emergency service because she tried to suicide by taking over thirty sleeping tablets. The type of service that was provided to her was " they had two machines, really. one of them slid down into your stomach like a black cobra down an echoing well looking for all the green water and the old time gathered there". She was operated on and the machines cleaned her blood to make her healthy again.

9)
The mechanical hound is a robot that has 8 legs and sleeps in the fire department base. Its purpose is to chase and kill animals for fun for the firemen to watch and bid on which animal it will catch and kill first. It is also used to guard them nut all it does is scare Montag because it tried to eat him but Montag barely escapes from it by climbing the pool and going to the 2nd floor.
10) I think that the society considers Clarisse "anti-social" because they are the one who is anti-social because Clarisse is not this because she talks to her family like we do, unlike other people who live in her house.

11) When her house was raided she light the match for a sign of hope because she was hurt and can die any second. She wanting to leave this place as a human being. She didn't want the others to have the satisfaction of burning the books because she couldn't live without them so she chose to die with her books and that's why she lit the match

12) The relationship between Montag and Mildred is like the relationship that we see around us that don't last long because people just give up and they don't try to save the relationship and to understand what's happing.

13) The purpose of Beatty's visit was that he came to Montag's house to see what he was up to because Montag hasn't shown up to work because he was sick and Beatty had a feeling that Montag was sick.

14) In Beatty's Monolog, he takes about how a school is done and that they have brought done the age when a kid can go to school. He also talks about how only one kid's talks in class and that he is the one to get bullied. I think that this is not accurately like my high school because the bully part of it is like gone and more kids still talk in AP classes but not in other classes. I think that books do not violate the idea that "everyone is made equal.

15) Montag feels fat because he has a lot on his plate and he doesn't know what to do with all the books he has had for over a year and he has just told his wife about it. This is why he feels fat with all the stuff that he is keeping a secret from himself, family, and the people he works with.
