2/24/17 - Notes

Three Things to remember:

Both Daisy and Myrtle are golddiggers because both want Tom that has Money and Daisy want Gatsby because now he has money.
 An Example: Compare and Contrast - World War 1 when the archduke died it caused a chain of events that lead to the war just as in the book when Daisy was driving the car and hit Myrtle which also caused a chain of events that lead to Gatsby's death.
2nd Example: Richard Cory who was a rich man that everyone is his town respected him until he killed himself because he was unhappy although he was rich. Just as in the Great Gatsby which Gatsby was rich and everyone respected him but was never happy and died.

Journals Week 21-24

The Great Gatsby Chapter 9 Notes

• This chapter starts years before Gatsby death and Nick tells us all that has to happen and he fills in the gaps that need to be told.
• After Gatsby's death, Nick goes to invite friends of Gatsby to come to his funeral.
• When the time comes Nick, Owl Eye, and Gatsby's father are the only one to show up to his funeral.
• Gatsby's father then tells Nick about who Gatsby was and what he was.
• Tom and Daisy left the city and left no clue where they went.
• They didn't even bother to go to Gatsby's funeral.
• Nick then reveals to us that he was indeed in a relationship with Jordan and that he ended the relationship and that Jordan claims that she has already found another one to be with.
• The story ends with Nick telling us everything that is happening to those around him like he meet Tom again said hi to him.
• Then at the end, we get a line that says "So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past".

Thr Grear Gatsby Chapter 8 Notes

• This chapter starts off when Nick wakes up from bed because he hears Gatsby coming back to his house after being outside of Daisy's house all night.
• Nothing happened that night.

• When the Moring comes, Nick goes to visit  Gatsby to tell that he should go alway from West Egg at least until the everything was good because the cops might find his car and say that he was the one who killed Myrtle.
• Then they had a long talk about Gatsby past which Nick already told us in chapter 6. About how he meet Daisy and he went to war and came back to find out that she married someone name, Tom.
• Then the pool man and told Gatsby that he was going to drain the pool but Gatsby said no because he was going to use it. Nick goes off to work and gets a call from Jordan and they have a chat about each other.
• Then the setting changes where Wilson and he find who the owner of the car was who killed his wife and lead him right to gatsby house.
• Wilson had a gun which he shot and killed Gatsby and then himself.

The Great Gatsby Chapter 7 Notes 2

• While they were in town in the hotel things got a little intense.
• Gatsby and Tom are going into a fight until Gatsby told Nick that Daisy never loved him and that she will be leaving him for Gatsby.
• Tom then started saying to Gatsby that he in the past had a drug store and that that was how he made his money. Then Tom is getting annoyed by Gatsby calling him old sport.
• Until Daisy started to cry she was yelling on both Tom and Gatsby to stop and she wanted to leave so Dasiy and Gatsby left without a word in his car.
• On the way, home Daisy was driving Gatsby car and she runs over Myrtle and left.
• Later, Nick, Tom, and Jordan came with their car on the same road the Daisy came to only find out that there was trouble because people were in a circle and they find Myrtle's " body wrapped in a blanket and then in another blanket".
• Then Tom questioned the policeman to find out that a yellow car run her over and then he finds out who the car's owner is.
• Then Nick gets home and asks him if Dasiy was the one driving and he says yes and Gatsby says who it was and much other question.
• Dasiy is home with Tom which both won't eat anything nor talk to each other.
• Gatsby came to check in her and Tom says that he won't sleep until  Daisy falls asleep.

The Great Gatsby Chapter 7 Notes 1

Is Gatsby a good or bad human being?

I think that Gatsby is a good human being becuase he thorws parties for people to enjoy and have fun. He also sends servents of his to Nick's house to help him out with his house work.

Journals Week Of 6-10

GATSBY CHAPTER 6

This chapter starts off by in front of Gatsby home when a reported wanting to ask him a few questions about his parties. Then Nick tells us the real truth about who Gatsby is and how his real name is James Gatz and that he was born in North Dakota in a farm and went to school but then dropped. Then after that information that nick tells us we then go to Another Gatsby parties more in the future and Tom shows up with Daisy and talks. At first Gatsby doesn't takes Tom as a nice person but a bad so they are rude to each other

GATSBY CHAPTER 5 NOTES

The Chapter starts off by Nick getting back home from the place he was at and it was night time and he saw lights everywhere on his house then he realized that the lights came from Gatsby house party's but there was noise only shiny lights. Then Gatsby appeared in front of his house and told him if he wanted to go Coney Island but Nick said no because he has to go to bed. Then the next day Nick had someone knocking on his door and opened and it was a servant of Gatsby who sent him to cut Nick's grass in his yard. Then a few moments later Daisy came and got in his house. Then Gatsby came and got in and was having a hard time speaking to Daisy because he was embarrassed and he talked to Nick in the kitchen but then Nick also told him that Daisy is also embarrassed and then they talked and Gatsby invited them both to his house to let Daisy look around.

GATSBY CHAPTER 4 NOTES

In chapter 4 of the great gatsby starts off nick attending another of Gatsby parties and meeting more people that are there and that he likes to meet.
Then Gatsby goes to Nick's house and invites him to a diner in New York and he says yes.
on the way to New York Gatsby tells Nick the truth about his past how he was in war and he went to oxford to study and that it is a family tradition.
Then Nick goes to see Jordan and she tells him what Gatsby told her when they were in the party and she promised not to tell anyone what they talked about. She tells him the before Gatsby was rich or went to the war he loved Dasiy, Nicks cousin and the nick don't believe that.

GATSBY CHAPTER 4

1. The truth that Gatsby tells nick is the truth about his past and the things that he went through. The truth that he told nick is about his time as students in oxford and that it is a family tradition and that he went there as a student. Then he talks about the war and about how it came and then he killed lots of men and he got promoted to Major and he even has proof that he was.
2. The truth that Jordan tells nick is about the private talk that she had with Gatsby at the party they went to. He says that in the past when Gatsby was in the war he was in love with Nick's cousin Daisy.

I think that I don't believe none of these truths because they don't sound like they are the truth but more like lies. I  don't believe these truth because they seem so unreal and that they can't be truth.

Major Topics

1. Nick gets invited to Jay Gatsby's party and attends it.
2. We then meet Gatsby for the first time in the play as the best person you can have as a friend.
3. Gatsby gets Jordan, to have a private talk and says nothing to Nick after they are done talking.
4. Then after all the guest were leaving someone that was drunk hit his car on the way out.
5. Nick then tells us the other things he did that summer as going to New York and hanging out with Jordan and he starts feeling something for her.

Chapter 3 Notes

Mr.Batsby sent his butler to ask Jordan that he wants to speak to her in private. Nick saw this guy hit his car on this wall and the guy said that he wasn't even trying to drive and then they get into an argument about that then he shouldn't be driving or does the guys want to comment suicide. Then Nick and Jordan go in New york and he says that he was in love but "he felt a sort of tender curiosity. Then he tells us about that he loved her when they were driving and Jordan was going to hit someone with the car.
